6 days / 5 night Lake Eyre Tour from Adelaide

Depart at 9.30am for Clare Valley where you will enjoy lunch at the “Magpie & Stump Hotel”, Minarto before heading to Peterborough (a significant SA destination for Railway History). where you will attend the “Sound and Light Show”, at the Steamtown Heritage Railway Centre. Dinner & accommodation at the “Roundhouse Motel”, Peterborough.

Head to Marree via Orroroo & Hawker where lunch is provided by Flinders & Co, Hawker which will be enjoyed whilst traversing the Flinders Ranges east/west, using the Parachilna road. Visiting Beltana, Leigh Creek and several historic sights along the way. Dinner and accommodation at the Marree Hotel.

Departing Marree airport for Birdsville. On the way, flying over the Birdsville track, the Great Stoney Desert, and the Diamantina River. This flight path also passes over the Goyder Lagoon a massive flood plain remote and vibrant with wildlife especially after floods. Once in Birdsville you will have time to explore the town and enjoy lunch at the Birdsville Hotel.Departing Birdsville, we fly out over the mighty Simpson Desert, Big Red, follow the Eyre Creek and track our way to the top end of Lake Eyre where the flood water flows in. We follow the Warburton Groove south through the centre of Lake Eyre North & South, taking in the amazing views along the way. We depart the lake over the mysterious Marree Man and spectacular Willouran Ranges landing back in Marree. Dinner & accommodation at the Marree Hotel.

Today we head to the historic Farina town ruins for morning tea on our way to Witchelina Nature Reserve where we drive through the picturesque Willouran Ranges, stopping at historic sites along the way. Lunch supplied by the Marree Hotel. Dinner and accommodation at the Marree Hotel.

Depart Marree, stopping at the “Ochre Pits”, Lyndhurst and onto the Copley bakery for morning tea on our way to the newly opened, Nilpena Ediacara National Park for the Ediacara fossil experience tour then sit back and enjoy lunch before heading off to the “Jeff Morgan Gallery” in Hawker. Back on the bus and onto the “Great Northern Lodge”, Quorn for our overnight stay with dinner at “Emily’s Bistro”.

Depart Quorn and return to Adelaide via Melrose, Wirrabara (silo artwork) and a classy lunch in Clare Valley. ETA Adelaide at approx. 4:30pm
